Good Samaritan's Box Iniative

Every child deserves to feel special, valued, and loved. In collaboration with Samaritan's Purse, AquaNepal has donated 200 Good Samaritan boxes filled with stationeries and toys to the Nepal Orphans Home, a trusted orphanage in Kathmandu Valley.

Here's the team at the 2023 Cupertino Youth Leadership Summit, spreading the word about the Good Samaritan's Box initiative. We supply the boxes and a checklist, and the community fills them with school supplies, toys, warm clothing, and essentials like toothbrushes. Our efforts earned the Humanitarian Impact Award from Pleasanton Mayoral Candidate Jack Balch.

A LOOK INSIDE...

These boxes are packed with care and a whole lot of heart. Tucked inside, you’ll find essentials like toothbrushes, Band-Aids, and mittens—small but meaningful items that add warmth and comfort to a child’s day. But the magic comes from the little extras: colorful plush unicorns, shiny toy cars, bouncy balls, and mini composition notebooks ready for every doodle or dream. It’s not just about the stuff; it’s about the excitement of opening a brand-new pack of markers or unraveling a soft scarf made just for you.

Packaged goods bring a special kind of joy—there’s something about peeling back the wrapper of a fresh toothbrush or pulling on a pair of new gloves that makes these moments more personal. For the kids receiving these, it’s more than just supplies—it’s a feeling of being seen, valued, and cared for. The little touches, from bright sticker pads to a neatly packaged necklace, turn these boxes into treasures.

WHY SAMARITAN'S PURSE?

We chose to partner with Samaritan’s Purse for their proven commitment to providing both immediate relief and long-term recovery in Nepal. Following the devastating earthquakes, their response was swift and impactful, delivering essential supplies like food, blankets, and emergency shelter to some of the most remote, hard-hit areas. What resonated with us is how they didn’t stop at just the basics—they offered hope through tangible support like kitchen kits and clean water solutions, helping families rebuild their lives piece by piece.

In particular, their work goes beyond short-term relief; it’s about restoring dignity and helping people reclaim a sense of normalcy in a time of crisis. For AquaNepal, this alignment of values and approach made them the ideal partner to bring our shared vision of helping Nepalese communities into action.

THE ROAD AHEAD

AquaNepal’s journey is just beginning. After launching our Good Samaritan’s Box drives in 2023, we aim to expand the initiative every year, bringing even more joy and essentials to children in Nepal. But our vision doesn’t stop there. As we look to the future, we are setting our sights on something even more vital—equipping Nepal with the tools to prepare for the next disaster before it strikes.

In a region historically prone to earthquakes, we’re working to partner with Samaritan’s Purse and other organizations to provide earthquake readiness kits. These kits would include essentials like water purification tablets, first aid supplies, flashlights, and radios—life-saving tools for when every second counts. Our goal is to shift from reactionary relief to preemptive action, ensuring that families have what they need before disaster hits.
